Negroni
-
Story
This famous aperitif was first mixed in Florence Italy, in 1919, at Cafe Casoni. Foscso Scarselli made the Negroni for his customer Count Camillo Negroni when he requested that the soda water in his Americano be swapped for something stronger.

-
Mixology

- Pour into a tumbler and add large sphere or cubes
- Garnish with an orange peel or slice of orange (blood orange if available)
- Pretend you're back in Italy, living La Dolce Vita
-
Variations
- Americano: based on the cocktail Milano-Torino (equal parts Campari and Sweet Vermouth), which was made popular by visiting tourists to northern Italy in the 1860's, who added soda water to make the Americano. If a Negroni is a little strong, just add extra ice or a dash of soda.
- Aperol Negroni: Aperol is slightly sweeter and less bitter than Campari. It's also about half the alcohol, so substitute in if you'd prefer something a little less spirited.
